The array-based high resolution direction-finding technique developed from the beam forming techniques and the spectrum estimation techniques is an important branch of the array signal processing techniques. Its main objective is to improve the performance of direction finding algorithms and fasten computations. A traditional beamforming is limited by azimuth resolution which depended on the size of receiver array. Beam width is proportional to the wavelengthλ, and the inverse to the receiver array size. In principle, decrease wavelength or augment aperture, the azimuth resolution can be improved. Using high-resolution beamforming algorithms, it can be achieved balance between various properties, and the azimuth resolution can be improved when the wavelength fixed and the aperture arrays also fixed.This thesis mainly studies to find an optimum performance algorithm through the research of several beamforming algorithm. Then to be find several methods which can reduce calculation, the implementation procedure of the optimum performance algorithm be studied in-depth.Firstly, the thesis study the conventional beamforming algorithm and DOA (direction of arrival) estimation high resolution algorithm (MUSIC algorithm and ESPRIT algorithm).From two parts theoretical analysis and computer simulation these algorithms be compared and their estimate performances be analyzed. Based on the simulation results of these algorithms, the advantages and disadvantages of each algorithm be got, the optimum performance algorithm (MUSIC algorithm) be found. Secondly, the study mainly focused on the fast implementation of MUSIC algorithm in uniform circular array system of eight elements. In this paper, from the three parts of the fast implementation, resolved to reduce MUSIC algorithm computation and parallel processing (computing speed). High-resolution beamforming algorithms in real time to achieve, made some exploration and research shows that the results of some justice.
