Study Of The Constitutional Classification Based On The Hierarchical Clustering

The standardization of the classification has become the crucial problem that cumbers the development of the study of body constitution types. Clustering Analysis is to class the given objects through mathematical process and analysis. It does not need any related experiences and will deduce an objective conclusion after the analysis. Application of clustering analysis in identifying body constitution types will promote the standardization process greatly.In the past years, there have been some research results about clustering analysis in body constitution types. But the methods are not reasonable enough and the amount of the data involved in the clustering is too small to deduce an authorized conclusion.Firstly, clustering and related concepts is introduced in brief. Then with regards to the shortcomings of current constitutional clustering, the original data is analyzed carefully and processed according to the specific needs. To deal with dimensionality effect, the data is projected and transformed to a smaller dimensional format. A new method to compute similarity matrix is proposed and the matrix is computed in two ways. Finally, the clustering is implemented with two kinds of algorithm, Divisive Analysis and Chameleon improved in this paper, the former of which is based on division and the latter is mergence. And the results are estimated in mathematic way.After an estimate for the quality of clusters from three different cluster analysis processes, an experimental constitutional classification conclusion is deduced and it will be an objective experimental conclusion for body constitution study. On the other hand, it is highly in accordance with the conclusion that the human's body constitution should be divided into nine partitions by Professor Wang Qi from Beijing TCM University. The proposition of nine-partition body types is proved to be reasonable.The identifying of body constitution types is the first part of body constitution theory in TCM. It also includes relationship of body constitution and diseases and how to adapt human body constitution types in diseases treatment. The classification of body constitution is completed in the paper, but the other two parts need further research. And the demonstration of the results will be helpful in the adjustment during the clustering. These will be the main contents for the further research of the paper.
