Clutter suppression is the most important part of Radar signal processing. The foundation of distinguishing targets and clutters is the difference in speed. That it reflects in echo is their different Doppler frequency. In order to suppress the clutter, the method of distinguishing targets and clutter by signal processing in frequency field is adopted, which includes Moving Target Detection (MTD) and Moving Target Indication (MTI). The technique MTD, as a band-pass filter, is based on MTI that is a band-stop filter. By comparing them, it can be found that MTD is more valid than MTI in filter. MTD is usually used on the condition that the clutter is much stronger than the targets. Firstly, in this paper, the structure of MTI and its characteristics in frequency field are analyzed. Then two design methods of Doppler filters–MTI and FFT, FIR are introduced separately. In the last chapter, the implementation of Doppler filters based on FPGA is discussed in detail. In addition, some relevant problems such as data transform, the method and skills about FPGA, pipeline used in mult-add device and Moving Window Filters are discussed in detail.
