For tactical mobile Ad hoc networks, it has the characteristics of itself, such as large amount of users, long distance of transmission, continuous mobility of nodes, especially low data transmission rate. Therefore, it becomes an important issue for tactical Ad hoc networks how to manage the location of mobile nodes in network layer to decrease the number of location update messages, which will ultimately alleviate the demand for transmission bandwidth, and maintain an expected precision at the same time. This paper launches research on the problem from two respects: the group mobility model and location update for tactical Ad Hoc networks.Firstly from the basic concept of wireless Ad hoc networks group mobility model, a Dynamic Hierarchy Group Mobility Model is proposed, which can be used to simulate not only the tactical networks'layered and grouped structure, but also the group's dynamic recombination. Then, the Least Square method in optimum estimation theory is employed. Considering that the forgetting factor can impose different weights on the old data and new data respectively in parameter estimation to reduce the effect of the old ones, a method which combines the Least Square Method and real-time algorithm with forgetting factor is proposed for cluster center motion parameter estimation; moreover, the method is applied in Cluster Center Prediction.Experiments show that both methods can improve the efficiency in the process of updating group mobility location.
