Digital image processing system has been widely used in various civilian and military fields. At present, China's most optical image processing systems are based on PC. Because of the system's relatively large volume, its scope of application is greatly limited. So, researching on a miniaturized optical image processing system will play a catalytic role in industrial production technology.In this paper, an embedded optical image processing system has been contrived, and we have designed image processing programs for the optical stripes. The results of typical optical stripes image processing demonstrate the feasibility of the system based on DSP. The main research and innovation work in this paper are as follows:(1)We have completed a hardware design scheme of DSP-based image processing system, and taken a dual-port RAM as a buffer to enable the high-speed data transmission between image acquisition module and DSP by their respective clock.(2)In this paper, we have designed not only the hardware initialization and driver, but also the image processing programs according to the characteristics of stripes. The whole system has the ability to collect, transfer, optimize and store the images. Moreover, it is a miniaturized optical image processing system which runs stably and process fleetly.(3)We have used the optical image processing system in optical interferometry. Firstly, we have analyzed the images of double-exposure of the holographic stripes. Secondly, we have given out a qualitative analysis between the fringe spacing and specimen deformation. Further more, we have measured fringe spacing in the double-exposure of speckle stripes image. Through the comparison with the artificial measurement results, we find that the DSP-based image processing system has a higher precision.The research results show that the DSP-based optical image processing system contrived in this paper is a high-speed, stable and miniaturized system. After further improvements, applying it to industrial production and inspection will be feasible. This paper has supplied a new method for optical image processing technology.
