Recently the potential and promising prospect of Micro Aerial Vehicle (MAV) in application has become a hot topic worldwide and attracted attention of many researchers. The data of videos as well as flight parameters of the aerial vehicles is collected, processed and displayed after being transferred via downlink channel to the ground control station. Thus the ground control and display system is among the most important devices of MAV. Transmission, processing and displaying of the video images has become one of the critical technologies for MAV research. In this thesis, a composite real-time signal processing system based on DSP and FPGA is presented for MAV ground control. The reason of basing the system on TS203 DSP is addressed and the principle of the work flow is presented. The design details of the hardware, the features and functions of chips used in the system are specified: DSP is reasonably facilitated to ensure the real-time property of image processing and transmission; FPGA is used to enhance the integrity and the flexibility of the system. Meanwhile, the anti-aliasing arithmetic of rotating graphics is explored for software design and optimization. The design of high-density integrated circuit and the optimized programming part ensure the real-time property and the reliability of processing and displaying of downlink signal data in ground control and display system effectively.
