Interactive Dynamic Instruction Web Site Designation And Development

The construction of instruction web site is urgent requirement of informationization education. With the development of the E time, the computer network becomes the crucial part of human normal life. In 90s of 20th century, the modern information technology got wide application in the education field, and it engages the improvement of instruction methods.The idea to construct an instruction web site is to transform the conventional instruction pattern and to beyond the instruction limitation of time, location and media, and to provide an student centered environment for teaching , studying and testing, which fully apply the interaction capability in the campus and the resources sharing under the direction of modern education theory. Meanwhile, it also provides a platform for teaching and education management.This paper mainly researches the development procedures of interactive dynamic teaching web site, which purpose is to provide a knowledge communication platform, and contribute the on-line resources for teacher.In the stage of analyzing of system, we employ the object oriented structure method, and via the requirement investigation of the interactive dynamic instruction website, the main data manipulations of the web site system is divided into the management of student records, BBS and question recording management, downloading resources management, and question library management according to the concerning data storage and file. However, according to the function criteria, the system has five subsystem with the function of student message service, data control, resources control, paper library control and paper usage (electronic exercise book) respectively. In this paper, we choose the serial sequence from the top level to bottom level to introduce these functions.The relationship between these five sub functions is the following:The subsystem of student message service is respond for the treatment of personal information submitted by the student, and distribution of the studying material.The subsystem of data control is dedicated to the instructions only, which mainly serve for the management submitted records of the student, class and studying BBS etc. via the foreground interface.The subsystem of resources control is also dedicated to teacher only, which mainly manages the studying resources, such as the teaching plan.The subsystem of the test paper management is constructed in C/S mode, which is used for the maintenance test questions library and creates a test paper via random choosing question from the library. The generated file of paper and question list may be input the resource management subsystem.The subsystem of question list (electronic exercise book) is dedicated for student only, which can provides the exercises based on the different chapter. To fulfill these functions, we choose visual programming tool—Powerbuilder as the development tool for C/S mode part, and PHP for B/S mode part.The main body of the system is B/S mode. After the authorized identification, the students can use those students'functions; such as study BBS, answer the question on-line, download resources etc. The instructor and administrator can maintenance the website via the data management system and resources management in the background.This function is developed with a kind of opening source code dynamic web page language—PHP, which is a embedded scrip language in HTML and explained with server. Normally, the PHP is running in the server under Unix or Linux operating system, also could be run in Windows. We can use it to manage the dynamic content, support database, handle conversion tracing, even though construct a electronic commercial web site. PHP supports many modern database systems, including MySQL, PostgreSQL, Oracle, Sybase, Informix and Microsoft SQL Server. Besides that, this language also has a powerful capability to upload file, send e-mail and data encryption.The test paper management subsystem is in C/S mode, which is used to maintenance the test paper library. The electronic exercise book is contributed for student specially, which could extract the test questions based on different chapter randomly. The student can access the book by the download function in the studying material subsystem.And this function is mainly developed with the programming tool Powerbuilder and MS Access. The Powerbuilder is a full visual developing environment, which could be used for the development of client and server program. By Powerbuilder, the designer could create HM interface and database interface in the application program in a visual direct method. Powerbuilder has the capability to connect and index multi database. Via Powerbuilder, we can easily develop a powerful server database application program with friend graphic access interface. The application program composes of windows, which includes the interactive controls between user and system. The programmer can apply all standard space, such as button, check box, list box and text box, and special controls that provide for development and usage of application program. besides that, the programmer can also use it to change database content. The question paper management and electronic exercise book are both developed with PowerBuilder.The lack of this system is that the system doesn't combine the electronic exercise book subsystem and student message management subsystem together, that is to say, the system still does not achieve the on-line exercise function, and so, the instructor can't get to know that they faced problems during exercising. Mentioned this problem here is to prompt other instructor and student to update the system later.
