With the development of education, distance education has received many research attentions. Under the development of computer network technology, network-based distance education has currently become an important direction of the distance education technology. It is the product of computer technology, network communications technology and multimedia technology. Through Computer Supported Cooperative Work (CSCW) theory, the traditional classroom teaching tool is provided for teachers and students who always separate out. Distance learning makes an important contribution for universal education and continuation education. It has been has become an important way for education.As the network construction cannot meet people's needs, the P2P technology comes. The use of P2P technology can greatly relieve the shortage of network resources. JXTA is a cooperate study project proposed by Sun Microsystems Company. It is used to create an common P2P platform, the developers can create applications and services based on the generic block buildings specified by JXTA, thus the developers needn't repeat the work on the common feature modules of P2P, they can concerned on how to improve the application level.This paper provides an overview of the development of distance education as well as the need for the current state of development at home and abroad. Then P2P network structure is described, and traditional networks were compared in the P2P multimedia application. After TCP / IP has been introduced, the paper explains the concept of software architecture, JXTA structure, JXTA agreement, as well as JXTA network forms of organization.In the analysis of the system, a solution to find the resources and location, to penetrate firewall and NAT , and transfer data is given.Virtual classroom systems analysis and design is the fourth part of this paper, this part gives the logical structure of the composition, at the same time gives the video teaching modules in the design, instant messaging application modules in the design, as well as file-sharing module design.Finally, summarize the whole paper.
