With the development of optical communication, the requirement for communication capacity is unlimited, and the channel rate is increased continuously. Dispersion is one of the mainly limited factors to the transmission distance. In this paper the basal theory of the dispersion compensation based on G-T cavity is dissertated. A kind of apparatus for chromatic-dispersion based on G-T cavity is introduced and the compensated results of this apparatus are presented. This paper is a foundation for further research in chromatic dispersion compensation. Theoretical analysis and experimental research in the dispersion compensator based on G-T cavity are presented. Main contents are as follows:At first this paper presents the principle of the G-T cavity and gives the dispersion formula of single-stage G-T cavity, then analyzes the effect of the structural parameter on the dispersion. Then it is concluded that the single-stage G-T cavity can not meet the demand. So the multistage G-T cavity is brought forward. And the theoretical dispersion graph of tow-stage G-T cavity is presented.After the dispersion graph, architectures of two-fiber collimator and circulator are shown. It is the two-fiber collimator that is used in the sample, so it's architecture is offered in detail, including the ray track, the theoretical loss and the relationship between the distance of two fibers and the station of the dispersion graph.At last this paper gives the tested loss graph and dispersion graph of the sample. The difference between the theoretical data and the tested data are analyzed and explained.
