For the purpose of implementing real-time supervision and control to locale running equipment, the supervisory system should possess excellent real-time and stability characteristics. As the kernel part of the software of supervisory system, real-time database which integrates real-time technology with database technology ensures real time and stability, by exerting explicit limitation on data and transactions and controlling the validity which is based not only on the logic result of transactions, but also on the time it spent.This paper has discussed a real-time database of an Intellectual Dimmer supervisory System which monitors the running state of and exerts appropriate control to dimmer equipments. Having studied and researched current real-time database technology, we have designed and implemented an initial real-time database, which has amalgamated data collection, data processing, alarm, real-time monitor, ect. For the purpose of improving the performance of traditional relative database system, which lack of real-time response, this paper designed a real-time database which based on the Intellectual Dimmer supervisory System and discussed its structure, distribution mechanism and features. By the means of modularization technology, this paper presents the design and division plan for each module, whose specially interior design is base on the Object-Oriented technology. The whole real-time database consists of six modules, including transaction processing module, time control module, real-time data collection module, real-time monitor module, history database and I/O interface module.The research program which the thesis based on has been checked and accepted. Due to some current techniques and methods on real-time database, which have been applied in the real-time database of Intellectual Dimmer supervisory system, better performances have been produced and client requirements satisfied.
