The maintenance of military submarine optical cable is important for the army's to informationize defense system. This study project is issued by a PLA's communication research centre. The thesis studies and designs a submarine optical cable integrated monitoring equipment based on VI (Virtual Instrument).The thesis firstly analyzes the necessity of the real-time automatic monitoring on the submarine optical cable, and then discusses the current research and applications of some similar devices both home and overseas. The thesis also reviews the development of VI technology. After analyzing the weakness of current cable monitoring device, a solution which uses computer software as a core and considering the measurement of both insulation and optical transmission performance is presented. In the systematic design, the thesis studies the software platform in embedded industrial computer and general computer, and expounds the method and critical technology in data measurement .To guarantee the accuracy and precision of insulation measurement, the thesis uses PI algorithm and designs an automatic test spectrum switcher. The thesis designs MCU software on message delivery method. At the platform of embedded computer, a cross developing way is used to help finish the monitoring software using MiniGUI. After that, the thesis cuts down Linux and MiniGUI to fit the embedded computer. Monitoring software on general computer is designed using graphical programming language LabVIEW. After finished the design work, the thesis verifies the function of this device, summaries the ways of developing VI, and prospects the near future of VI technology used by measurement industry.The submarine optical cable monitoring device has a reasonable structure, comprehensive functions and a reliable performance...
