Research On Technology Of Computer-aided Analysis For The Sperm Quality

Sperm quality is an important indicator of male fertility. With the proportion of male infertility increased year by year, people need more advanced theories and technologies to evaluate the capacity of male fertility and analyze the sperm quality. Computer-assisted sperm analysis system, which is based on the image of sperm, will help to improve the accuracy and objectivity of diagnosis, reduce the workload of diagnosis, and provide an accurate diagnosis reference for male infertility and artificial insemination.Computer-aided sperm analysis includes the following several major steps: the collection of sperm image, the segmentation and identification of sperm, the track of sperm trace, and the calculation of movement parameter.First, capture a series of sperm movement images from the video stream, adopt a method which combines global threshold and local threshold to segment sperm image. Do the open and close morphological operations on segmented image to smooth the contour of the target and fill the hole in the target region. Remove the impurity by the size, radius and other factors of targets. Mark on it and recognise the sperms. Then, outline each sperm's movement trace according to the neighbor guidelines. Finally, calculate the sperm motion parameters which reflect the activity of sperm. Do the statistics of sperm motility by analysis of the motion parameters.Our study shows that the algorithm can satisfy the demands of the clinical application. The analysis data can effectively reflect the activity of sperm, and it is very useful for the diagnosis of male infertility.
