Embedded system is a special computer system whose purpose is for specific applica- tions. Based on computer technology, the hardware and software of embedded system can be customized. ARM processor is the most used 32 bit RISC microprocessor because of its advantages, such as high performance, low cost and powerconsumption, etc. Embedded operation system is the foundation and exploitation platform of embedded application software, and Linux operation system has been applied more and more widely in embedded field with unique advantage of high stability, exoteric kernel source code, and powerful network function. Considering all kinds of factor, the paper adapted AT91RM9200 chip based on ARM920T microprocessor produced by ATMEL corporation as hardware platform, and adapted embedded operation system of Linux as software platform.First of all, the paper introduced actuality and foreground of embedded system, analysed exploitation platform of embedded system based on ARM9 microprocessor in detail, and then expounded theory and method of ARM ADS1.2 as ARM integrated development tool. Secondly, the paper discussed the scheme from three aspects, which are the analyse and design of start-up code and interruption handling mechanism, the transplantation of embedded operation system, and the realization of Modbus protocol and TCP/IP protocol. The research of the operational process of initiation code and the exception handling mechanism are the main task of the first aspect; the transplantation scheme of Linux for AT91RM9200 chip is put forward in the second aspect; the main task of the third aspect is the realization of Modbus communication protocol between ARM9 developing board and PC, and the research on how to achieve TCP/IP protocol in embedded operation system of Linux.
