Linear motor possesses well static and dynamic performances besides control characteristics. It is applied to the servo control of precise position with closed loop control system, especially in short stroke and high frequency machining field. With the motion characteristics of high precision and rapid response, linear motor achieves to the complex noncircular machining.Firstly, the article introduces the technique of linear motor, the development of the noncircular machining, and gives a detailed description of the development and status of the linear drive technology based on the extensive reading and in-depth summarizing relevant documentation.Secondly, the operating principle of convex elliptical piston is described in detail, the framework of Noncircular machining system based on linear drive is proposed. In this thesis, by combining the PCI-bus and noncircular machining, an axis controller based on the PCI-bus and Windows OS is designed. In the hardware designing, PCI interface is realized by using the PCI9052 chip. According to above theoretical and technical analysis, the mathematical model of the linear motor is developed according its structure. A feasible control strategy based on DSP is established. The article proposes the signal control of linear motion. Meantime an adaptive fuzzy PID algorithm is adopted for the control of the reciprocal motion in the linear motor. Furthermore, the drive program and the system managing function of PC are completed; the management and inspection of slave computer are realized by using Windows Driver Model (WDM) and VC developing environment.Finally, some experiments are carried out to verify the performance of designed noncircular platform system and related software, the testing data and emulation are also included to give a convictive and intuitionistic proof. The experiment results show that the technique of noncircular machining system using linear drive is operable.
