The species of Acaroid Mites of Acaridida is a kind of important and harmful mite which related to people's life closely. In order to carry out prevention and cure efficiently,we must ascertain the category.However,It is a complicated and tedious process to classify the mites by means of traditional method. With the development of artificial intelligence,to design an expert system of classification and identification for Acaroid mites will definitely alter the method of traditional classification.Through studying the relevant knowledge of taxonomy for the species of Acaroid Mites of Acaridida and expert system,the characterization for mites and expert System are combined to design and implement an expert system of Classification,Retrieval and Identification for the species of Acaroid Mites of Acaridida.This paper drawed the rules of identification for acaridida by means of the expert system techniques and reason in accordance with these rules in order to build the identification module.The system constructed a knowledge base according to the rules thus drawn,and designed a ratiocinate program based on production rules.The ratiocinate program realized the identification for the mites by inferential strategy.With the help of the expert system techniques rather than the traditional classification and characterization, the system which is of practical value can satisfy the demand of user,improve the efficiency of identification.What's more,the expert system can be operated easily through a friendly human-computer interface. What users need to do is merely observation and in put the information into computer,then they can obtain a precise classification and identification for Acaroid Mites.It has been proved by application that the system is useful.
