With the fast development of information technology and the coming of post-PC era, the embedded product becomes one of the most important products of IT industry. Meanwhile, plenty of the embedded applications call for better performance and functionality and user prefer convenience rather than usefulness nowadays. It is a large challenge for the researchers and programmers of embedded system.The paper introduces the development of USB, the source,trait and signification of the project firstly. Secondly,it describes the definication,trait,constitute and develop flow of embedded system, and analyses the topology,bus transport protocol and work principle of USB. Then introduce system hardware platform, from microprocessor to data storage module. Later the paper analyses the process of software design, which includes introduction of system function module, the initialization of processor and system modules, the realiation of UC/OSII transplantation,USB host driver and file system. Finally, it analyses the problems in process of system debugging, and gives the solution to them.The USB system designed in the paper is working stably under the UC/OS-II real-time operation system on hardware platform constituted by PHILIP LPC2210 and PHILIP ISP1161, which makes communication with USB mass-storage device, including recognition of Plug&Pull, emulation of device, loading driver, creation of directory, data read/wirte and so on for USB mass-storage device.
