As a new generation and network test bus standard, LXI is on the basis of the Ethernet technology and consists of standards, protocols, commands and specifications of instrument system. In terms of the design and realization for a LXI instrument, the most important part is the design of the communication module of LXI instruments, except for the essential test function.Based on the abundant demonstration development trend of network test instrument, aimed at the present situation that RS232 and GPIB are still the primary interface of traditional instruments which can not construct network test system, this thesis shows a design of intelligent LXI interface module based on 32bit ARM7 MCU--S3C44B0 to meet the requirement of converting traditional instruments to LXI devices. It elaborates hardware and software design scheme of high precision time synchronization LXI instrument interface, presents circuits design of RS232, GPIB, USB interface converting to LXI interface in hardware design, expounds scale and transplant of the embedded OSμC/OS-II, LwIP transplanting and IEEE1588 embedding in software design. The module implements control and management function for the B class instrument, enables host computer communicate with general instrument through LAN. The thesis also studies synchronization and trigger of LXI, analizes the defects of full software implementing IEEE1588, which hardly achieves sub-microsecond synchronization, and proposes design scheme of implementing IEEE1588 based on FPGA hardware aid, which lays a good foundation for the research and implementation of A and B class instrument.The difficulties and its solutions are clearly introduced in the thesis. In the end, it also gives some ideas for improving the LXI interface module, which will make the function of the module more powerful.
