| The bottleneck for real-time transmission of digital video in Internet is the enormous information. Video compression system is able to improve the real-time transmission performance of digital video significantly. TMS320DM642 is TI's high performance multi-media processor. Its'computing speed is up to 5760MIPS. There is video capture port, video display port, internet port and high speed DMA channels on this chip. In the part of hardware design, only a TMS320DM642 is used as the main processor. Compared to the traditional FPGA + DSP-based video compression system, this system architecture is more compact. Compared to the tradiontional development method based on cycle structure and sequential implement, DSP/BIOS real-time operating system-based development method adopted in software improves the real-time performace, stability and maintainability. Hardware system, drivers, and application programs have been debugged separately. The video in PAL format can be captured and displayed in real-time. And the video information compressed can be transmitted in Internet. |
