As a widely used laser, the working lifetime of He-Ne laser is one of key parameters. The conventional tests for estimating the working life take a long time and are of disadvantage to determining the product quality. It is great significant that shorting the time of measuring and estimating the parameter.In order to estimate the lifetime of He-Ne laser under normal electric current, the accelerated lifetime tests of 250mm He-Ne laser have been carried out with current from 10mA to 35mA. Least-square principle method was used to process experimental data and the regression line obtained. The failure mechanism of the He-Ne laser tube under different current has been analyzed. The best linear unbiased point estimation and interval estimation of Weibull distribution parameter and the accelerated life equation of the laser under current less than or equal to 20mA have been obtained. Based on the equation, the characteristic life of the He-Ne laser under normal current has been estimated.The experimental results indicat that the failure mechanism of He-Ne laser is not varied when the current is less than or equal to 20mA, and new failure factors will appear when the current is more than 20mA.
