With the development of scene simulation, it is widely used in many fields, terrain scene simulation is one of the most critical technology in scene simulation, its study has important value .Firstly, this paper introduces Vega Prime used in drive simulation, describing the advantages of LADBM module managing databases of large terrain, then compare many methods and critical technology in making large terrain, for the aims of application and feasibility conclude advantages and disadvantages from every method, researching manage procedure and approach of texture applying, relation to every coordinate system of earth and how to convert to other, convenient for different coordinate systems switch in-out, introduce method about making terrain mapping texture with Satellite-picture, puts forward a way of large area terrain simulation based on raster image, with this way and Creator set up a large terrain, after convert the terrain data Flt to VSB, adding into Vega Prime to simulate, it is proved feasibility. Comparing with other method of making terrain such as Creator, it is described in detail CTS theory and work flow how to build large terrain, also talk about key technology such as data dynamic scheduling manage method, using CTS create a large area terrain, proving its advantages for creating large terrain.
