Generally, Multiple Input Multiply Output (MIMO) can dramatically increase the channel capacity and spectral efficiency of a wireless system without occupying more bandwidth. So it is considered as a key for the future wireless communication systems. As the key technology of MIMO, the MIMO Detection Algorithms are calling more and more attentions.In this thesis, the performance and DSP realization in WIMAX system of MIMO Detection Algorithms is mainly studied. First, the basic theory about MIMO system and Space-Time Coding is introduced. Then the performance of seven existing MIMO Detection Algorithms(ML,ZF,MMSE,Interference Cancellation (IC),Order Interference Cancellation(OIC),OIC based on QR decomposition (QR-OIC),Maximum likelihood detection with QR decomposition and M-algorithm (QRM_MLD))are compared by simulation. Simulation results demonstrate that their performance from best to worst are:ML,QRM-MLD,OIC,IC,QR_OIC,MMSE,ZF.At last, the DSP realization of MMSE and QRM-MLD in WIMAX system is studied. Realization results show that the realization of QRM-MLD is more complex than MMSE,although the performance of is QRM-MLD better than MMSE. So, QRM-MLD is not suitable to be realized by DSP, and MMSE is still the best arithmetic in the project.
