Quantum communication is built on the foundation of the characteristics of quantum states which was a new way to ensure the safety of communication. With the tendency that quantum communication technology has already begun moving forward to the direction of practical use and complication, this paper mainly focuses on the theme of quantum communication network and the methods to realize information exchange.In view of the BB84 protocol, we introduced the basic principles of quantum communication, as well as a network model which separated the control layer and transfer layer, a quantum switch structure based on this model was designed, made a detailed analysis of the key components of the switch. We implemented the main modules by assembling the network processor and embedded linux operating system, the control signal were conducted between different modules in order to achieve indirect control of the quantum channel, it also serves for accomplish the work of network resources distribution, key agreement and the information transmission after encryption, and so on. In addition, we finished the design and implementation of the software of the quantum switch, and built a network platform for experiments.Finally, we tested the performance of the switch; and the results show that this quantum switch can meet the demand for quantum communication networks.
