Along with the unceasing development of computer vision and the intelligent system technology, research and the development technology on each kind of pattern recognition system obtained the widespread attention in the military, civilian use and so on. Especially the detection and tracking technology of the movement goal becomes an important research subject because of its widespread application prospect. The goal of this topic "Research on Video Surveillance System Based on DSP" is studying a fast, accurate detection and tracking technology of the movement goal based on DSP.Firstly, introduced detection and tracking technology of the movement goal and correspond algorithm. Mainly used the tracking algorithms are the wave gate tracking algorithm and the related tracking algorithm. In the surveillance software aspect, according to the difference of surveillance background, may divide into the static background and the dynamic background, the different surveillance scene uses the different surveillance method. Because the design of this article is under the static background, uses the frame difference method, the movement target tracking uses the center of mass tracking method, may achieve easily the detect effect. But under the dynamic background, because the scene is quite complex, uses the optical flow, when detects the mobile can give the relative motion vector. In this paper, the algorithm is expatiated, compared and simulated to choose the best arithmetic.Secondly, this paper designed a hardware platform of video surveillance system based on DSP. The whole system is composed by the digital camera, the DM642 exploitation board, head, head decoder, alarm circuit, terminal display, storage device, electrical source and so on. The related peripheral device built the platform used by video processing, the cost of entire system is low, and the reliability is high. The computing power of TMS320DM642 may achieve 4800MIPS, in the video processing aspect, the processing speed of the chip may amount to 25 frame per second, may satisfy the request of the real-time surveillance.When system debugging, combining the DSP hardware system, realized the detection and tracking arithmetic of the movement object, designed the driver of image gathering and display, completed the MPEG compressed encoding of image, compiled BOOTLOADER program and FLASH program, studied the bottom software DSP/BIOS based on embedded real-time operating system and the program of detection and tracking arithmetic of RF5, and encapsulated according to the digital signal processor arithmetic standard (XDAIS), according to the order of software flow chart, inserted to the main program frame.Finally, through the surveillance experiment under the static scene, confirmed the arithmetic usability, the experimental result also realized basically the design requirements in advance. This article gave finally the method and the technical route of further consummated and the improvement system performance.
