Human society has entered into the information age, accompanying with the database technology fully developed and the data application widely used, the amount of data that people have accumulated is increasing exponential, the Data Mining technology has became the focus in the field of information application technology. The Data Mining is a procedure of distilling available information and knowledge from mass, incomplete and random data. It combines with theory and technology in many fields like the database artificial intelligence machine learning and statistics and etc.The expansion of college enrollment leads to the gap between intellectual capabilities. Every college targets at improving the intellectual achievements under various influencing factors. Traditional analysis of the students' achievements adopts no other way but equalization, variance, distinguishing remarkable appraisal, credibility and validity, commonly in consideration of teaching itself. Actually there are still some invisible factors in teaching, especially some factors that influence students' attainment. All these should be further analyzed.This paper, by presenting several application examples of the classical method-Decision Tree Id3 and combining the knowledge of attributes, provides an improved method of Id3. And this improved method has been put into the data mining of higher educational students' grades, by which the students' grades of one specific subject can be classified and statistical result can be analyzed, so as to get the inner or the other causes that influence the students' grades. By comparison of the classical and the improved ID3 methods, we find that the latter one is more concise and much closer to the ideal model of Decision Tree.
