The iris recognition is a new technology based on biology. It can reach the high precision based on the iris recognition algorithms. If the world persons' irises get into a database, it would have appeared the false and refuse false possibility to very fewness. The high precision of iris recognition is the special status in numerous biology recognition technologies. It is paid attention to more and more domestic and international relevant researchers because of high veracity and good economic benefits. It can be not only used in Secret place but also in the airport, bank, finance, police, entry and exit port, security, network, e-business. There is the difficult in the iris recognition because of the expensive.Firstly, an embedded iris recognition system based on TMS320DM642 chips was designed in the paper. The system includes the iris capturing device and the human computer interface. The iris image capturing,recognition and displaying results can be realized in this system. At the same time it can be used cooperating with PC.Secondly, after the driver modules were designed in the system, the iris recognizing algorithm was transplanted from PC to the system. Some necessary optimizing work was done, and the real-time performance can be achieved to some extent.Lastly, the quality evaluating algorithm of iris image was studied. Based on the works of pioneers, a new quality evaluating algorithm was transplanted to the DSP, the effective of the algorithm was proofed.
