The dissertation, under the background of Passive Underwater Acoustic Positioning(PUAP) System, including the theoretical analysis about tracking and positioning of target, the design of engineering software and experimental data processing.PUAP system is composed of buoy system and ship system, ship system consists of computer system and base station system. The control computer can not only real-time display, save target track and movement parameter, but also have the ability of self-test, data processing after experiment, review the experiment and so on.The system uses bearings-only technology to measure the horizontal track of target in the vector hydrophone array. In order to measure the target deep information, we use multi-path interface method and vertical double-hydrophone method. Multi-path interface method makes use of time-delay of direct sound and reflected sound. Vertical double-hydrophone method calculates target deep information by time-delay of signal arrived at the two vertical buoys. After experiment, we have another technique to solve three-dimensional target track, hyperbolical join based on time-delay measuring, which insures the functional reliability of the PUAP System.In the aspect of engineering software design, the kernel is the software design of real-time tracking and data transformation between computer and base station system, data transformation is carried out by RS232 and USB port; in the aspect of data processing, the primary task is the adjust of hydrophone to get target azimuth and the analysis of target positioning precision.The PC display and control software design is another important work of the dissertation, which is developed on the Visual C++ 6.0 kit. For the convenience of software's development, debugging and servicing, the software is composed of many blocks, each block is independent. In addition, the design of the interface between management software and the blocks are also carried through.
