Design of IR seeker tracker in the infrared imaging guidance technology is always a hot research field. The system has been applied in the field of weapons,shipping navigation and traffic control, so it has very great outstanding practical significance.In the paper, based on the study of a moving tank in the ground, after the traditional tracking algorithms are analyzed and compared, According to practical system design, tracking algorithm which is based on Mean Absolute Difference is used, the algorithms are simulated and tested, according to the results, image tracking processing system based on FPGA and CY7C68013 is designed. In order to well overcome the main disadvantages of large amounts of calculation and realize the aim of real time tracking, a fast median filter algorithm is used which is adapt to this system; In the same time, a ping-pong operation storing modes is put forward to improve the storing-speed of the system. The hardware and software system which are presented in this paper have passed test in lab and outdoors.Through practical application, feasibility and practicability of this system have been stated.
