With the constantly expanding scale of distributed simulation, the existing HLA framework has been unable to meet the application needs of distributed simulation. A large number of heterogeneous simulation resources can't be shared transparently and complex distributed simulation application's efficiency is low. The issue will be effectively solved with the application of Grid technology in large-scale distributed simulation. Grid technology represents a new generation of advanced network technology which will link geographically distributed and heterogeneous resources through high-speed network to solve large-scale application issues. The entire Internet will be integrated into a "virtual supercomputer" by Grid to provide comprehensive sharing of computing resources, storage resources, data resources, information resources and knowledge resources.Aiming at the needs of simulation resource's discovery and monitoring under Grid environment, this paper researches and analyzes the internal structure and the achievement principle of MDS4, the information service components in the architecture of WSRF, to propose Simulation Resource Discovery Model combining the characteristics of simulation resources. The model resolves simulation resource's description, packaging, registration and other key issues so that the simulation resources can be seamlessly integrated into the Grid. Simulation Computing Resources Monitoring System (SRMS), with the detail explanation of its system structure, work process and methods, has been designed and realized based on Simulation Resource Discovery Model. SRMS has good scalability and platform-independence. It can easily integrate and monitor all types of simulation resources and provides the functions of state information view and real-time inquiry. Finally, a prototype system of SRMS is built under the existing experimental environment to test the system function and the demonstration results are given to verify the correctness and feasibility of the system.
