As a specification for Wireless Metropolitan Area Networks, IEEE802.16 supports the broadband wireless access for stationary, portable and mobile devices, and becomes one of research interests in wireless communication recently. The purpose of this paper is to use DM256 to implement a broadband multifunction wireless based on 802.16 standard. This paper depends on XXX which requires to design a broadband multifunction wireless communication system to support mobile devices, anti-Interference, anti-decline and encryption/decryption. Wavesat's DM256 implements the 802.16d PHY layer protocol and OFDM modem. Hence it meets the requirement of system design. According to our knowledge about DM256 and actual demand, we choose CPU(AT91RM9200), DM256, FPGA as the core circuits of our platform. We use FPGAs as hardware MAC-accelerate chip, and provide software MAC interfaces which control DM256, frequency hopping, the integration and encryption of frequency, voice and data, the RF,scheduling, synchronization and many other functions; broadband multifunction can be performed by many kinds of interfaces. This system consists of memory, DM256, data processing, voice processing, sensitivity testing, TOD and frequency control. In this paper we focus on DM256, frame and frequency hopping. After working hard and improving continuously, we almost finish the designment which not only meet the requirement of users and speed up the process, but also provide space for future applications; it is confirmed by many analysis and testing. Because our designment comes from a project, there exists a little of deficiencies; for example, the utilization of the channel is reduced for the flexibility of network, at the same time the large number of users of small bandwidth may happen as a result of sharing bandwidth.
