Because of its distributed characteristic and making resources being more fully utilized, P2P (Peer-to-Peer) technology can be used to improve many applications. But in current P2P network, it is short of centralized control so that the security in P2P network is faced with many challenges, especially there hasn't effective method to guide and restrict peer's behaviors. In order to solve these security problems, a MTBAC (Multi-domain Trust Based Access Control) model has been proposed to solve the problems of access control.MTBAC model realizes the access control Mechanism of P2P network, which extending the MLS (multi-level security) model and reputation-based trust model. It evaluates peer's trust value via trust model, and then grants the Corresponding access control level to the peer according to its trust value. The model uses Multi-domain trust arithmetic to evaluate the peer's trust value. The Multi-domain trust arithmetic uses trust value to describe the trust relationship of the peers in P2P network and restrict peer's behaviors. MTBAC model awards or publishes peers with good or bad behaviors by dynamic update their trust value, it also divides the P2P network into different domains by adding the theory of small world into the trust model. It uses different algorithms when peers in different domains or in the same domain. The model emphasizes the efficient utilization of bandwidth as it abandons a large number of redundant information about peers'recommendations.MTBAC model has been implemented as a module of the P2P file sharing system. It designs the components of the model, especially the processes and sub-module of the Multi-domain trust model. Mathematical analyses and simulations indicate that MTBAC model effectively usable in P2P file sharing system.
