As a crucial component of object-based storage system, object-Based storage file system has become research focus of distributed file system. Object-based storage system integrates block storage and file storage. It provides an expressive object-level interface to user and improves the performance of the whole storage system in terms of data sharing, security and intelligence. The communication performance is the one of primary factors which affects the performance of distributed storage system. As a new I/O architecture, InfiniBand can make full use of the hardware performance of high speed network, which can reduce the data-copy times and depress the software overhead, and can improve the bandwidth and latency remarkably, which provide a new way to improve the performance of the distributed storage system.Design and implement an Object-Based storage file system on InfiniBand using IPoIB Technology. This file system consists of three parts: object-based storage device target, metadata server target and client target. These three parts work together to complete a data operation, just like most popular distributed file system. Unlike traditional storage interface, the three components are interconnected with InfiniBand network, and fill the performance gap in network and CPU, and make the performance of high performance compute to balance in computing and communication. In terms of the testing results of Lustre File System over InfiniBand, the I/O performance and expansibility has a significant improvement, comparing with distributed storage system on TCP/IP.
