Along with the development of society, people take more attention in the performance on the products and equipment, and automatic fabric defects detection system doubtless replace manual labor to detect fabric surface. Our country have abundant textile production, but we haven't exploited a practical automatic detection system for textile. And there are some problems in the systems imported abroad like: prices are too high, the configuration and operation of the device can't fit our actual manufacturing situation. The development of machine vision have made excellent condition for the research of industrial surface detection such as fabric defect detection.In this thesis, the status which research and application of fabric defect detection is firstly introduced. Besides, the status which software research of machine vision is also introduced. Then the whole design scheme of our system is expounded and the performance requirements is analysed. The detailed implementation scheme which included server control program module, driver module, image database module in the process of software development was gived.As the special nature of image data, defects images on accessing,storage and retrieval were analysed, and Visual C++ 6.0 plus SQL Server 2000 software development platform,ADO access to the database were used in the design of the system. Besides, features of color and texture to search image data also were used. Based on the above technology, the defect detection system database module was designed.Driver program implement connectivity and data transmission between image acquisition card and PC. Because the PC operating system is Windows 2000, the driver program was based on WDM Driver Model. Interruption which is emphasis and difficulty in our Driver Development Process was detailedly talked in this thesis.Though the entire design of the fabric defect detect system have been finished, the system has some parts should improve in order to satisfy the need of the fabric industry. In the end of the paper, some ideas to improve the system were gived.
