The locations of the antennas on the airborne are discussed with the requirement of antenna system placement on the small airborne platform, in this paper. The electrical parameters of 16 antennas, such as impedance and radiation pattern, are analyzed and simulated by the international common software FEKO. The simulated results and measured results supplied by the manufacturer of antennas are compared in order to test the analysis method. The compared results show that the simulated results are good agreement with measured results, the analysis method is correct, and the simulated results are reliable. The small airborne platform is built by the classical drawing software CATIA. The electrical parameters of antennas are simulated by the software FEKO, when the antennas are located on the airborne platform surface. The placement method of 9 airborne antennas on the airborne platform is discussed, and then the positions of 16 antennas on the small airborne platform surface are located with the requirement of the isolation between each 2 antennas being minimized. The impedance, radiation pattern and the isolation of those antennas are measured on the 1:1 airborne platform model for the design method to be tested, which indicate the designed position for each antenna is the best location on the airborne platform surface and the design method is available. The research results can be applied in the engineering and the method can be provided for the similar problems to be solved. Therefore, the research result has high value on engineering application.
