UT (Ultrasonic testing) is a very important method of NDT (Non-destructive Testing). It has been widely used to control the quality of on-line product and some important parts used. Comparing with other testing methods, UT has many advantages such as accurately orientation, low cost, harmlessness to bodies, etc. UT is a NDT technology which is used most widely and develops very fast.The special automatic ultrasonic flaw detector used in ultrasonic c-scan to small sized tubes is presented in the paper integrating the traditional ultrasonic flaw testing technology.The functions of signal emitting, incepting, magnifying, data collecting and processing, displaying graphics, determinant defects, as well data saving and outputting are realized. The saving problem of traditional ultrasonic testing is solved, and some infection factors of handlers are reduced.The scanning device , the computer control of stepping motor ,the data process of ultrasonic echo etc. are designed and researched thoroughly. Here are the main work:1 The scanning device is designed and it is light and easy to operate.2 By means of Single-chip-computer which has high dependability, using agility, the controlling parts and programs are designed.3 The software is developed. The graphics of flaws can be redisplayed c-scan.A prototype system has already been developed successfully. The main performance reached the design request. This system is expected to be used in the scientific research.
