Marine Engine Room Simulator is one of necessary equipments for modern navigation education, which is placed in the rank of evaluated items by the Maritime Affairs Bureau of China according to STCW 78/95 Convention that was come into effect on February 1st, 1997. The modeling and simulation of Marine Engine Room Simulation System, based on only one PC, are systemically investigated in this thesis.The main research work of this paper is illustrated as follows:Firstly, mathematical model of large Two-Stroke Marine Diesel Engine is established by analytical equation method, quasi steady state method and modify method of modifying experimental data. Software programming of calculation of mathematical model is achieved with VC++6.0. And steady-state and dynamic simulation results of the diesel engine are given in this paper.Secondly, based on the modularized modeling method, a simulation model of Fixed-pitch propeller propulsion plant and its control system (Auto Chief 4) is established. Simulation results of different working conditions of the diesel engine are showed by the software which is programmed with VC++6.0.By using related theories of thermo mechanics and engineering fluid mechanics, this paper establishes the models of compress air system, cooling water system, fuel and lubrication oil purification system, lubrication oil system, etc. And the paper goes further to discuss the modeling methods of pumps, heating exchangers, air compressors, gas bottles, triple valves and adjusting valves in details.Finally, based on the modularized modeling method, human-computer simulation visual interfaces of fixed- pitch propeller propulsion plant, its control system and other auxiliary systems are designed in VC++6.0 integrated development environment. All simulation systems of MERS are integrated into the same simulation environment. And a PC-based simulation system of the diesel engine is also designed and developed by using single document / single view method in Visual C++. This system is one of the important parts of marine engine operation training. It has advantages of lower investment,less space occupied, lower requirement of system configuration, more clear system structure, easier to install and use. The simulation system can be used as one of the important complementarities, which is suitable for the crew to be familiar with the operation of the system, to comprehend all the systems of the diesel engine, to complete the related knowledge training.
