Numerical control technology plays a pivotal role in manufacturing and machining industry, and its application field is extended due to the development of CAD and CAM technologies. In order to improve the flexility, efficiency and precision of numerical control system, a simulated research and developing test-bed is established, which simulates an open-architecture CNC (Computer Numerical Control) system by using a robot with contact and non-contact sensors. Based on the test-bed, online inspection software package with some key functions for numerical control system is developed.Firstly, the technology background is summarized, and objective of the research is shown. On the basis of related fundamental knowledge, the system frame is designed, and mission planning is implemented in the presented robot test-bed.Secondly, in the OpenGL and MFC (Microsoft Foundation Classes) software development environments, some key modules such as CAD file reading; non-contact data processing; 3D displaying; manipulator controlling; interactive operation and so on are designed by taking advantage of UML (Unified Modeling Language). Also, the functions are implemented in the presented system. Finally, by means of the test bed and the developed software, using non-contact inspector and contact inspector to detect the standard block, the effectiveness of the designed system is demonstrated. Furthermore, some error data are obtained, and using the error data, the system measurement accuracy is analyzed. Through all the tings above, it can be seen that the content of this thesis has provided a complete architecture and experimental environment for the future work.
