Recently the city's population in our country has increased sharply,and the scale of housing floorage has enlarged rapidly,the installation number of water-meter has added along with these reasons.Some problems have appeared accordingly,for example,the workers' workload increases because of high floor;Every now and then crimes happen because of imitating workers to enter residences privately;Some inhabitants are unwilling to strangers because of privacy;The issues are triggered off because the workers' reading ends and the inhabitants' reading ends are different.Furthermore,the water lose is caused because of various human factor in the course of meter reading is the main part of water lose.This relates to economy benefits of waterworks and reasonable use of national water resource,it may even affect the living of offspring.In order to improving present behindhand status,one kind of reading equipment of pointer water-meter is introduced,the kernel of this equipment is DSP and image process technology is applied.Generally,special image process chips are used in image process system,such as TI Company's 6000 series' chips.This kind of chip has large storage room and adapts to processing image,but the cost of circuit would be high because of the chips' high price. The image intercepting method is used to acquire the useful image in this system.,which can reduce the need of storage and process speed,so low cost processor can be used instead of high cost processor.First analog image sensor is used to acquire pointer water-meter's images in this system,then Philips company's SAA7113H is used to digitize digital images,next low cost's digital signal processor TMS320VC5416 is used to store and recognize the images,finally the processing results are transmitted to a flash memory disk directly by one USB host interface.The study of reading equipment of pointer water-meter based on vision includes three parts:acquisition of water-meter images,recognition of water-meter's reading and transmission of recognition results and water-meter images.The software and hardware design of this equipment,the facture of circuit and debugging are completed. First integral notion of system design is brought out at the beginning of the text in this paper,then detail technical information and functions of every module are narrated in each chapter,finally some suggestions for system optimization are also provided.
