Research And Application Of Hospital Workflow Information System

With the development of IT technology, modern hospitals have successively built the information systems, such as Hospital Information System, Clinic Information System, Lab Information System, and Picture Archiving and Communication System. Although these systems are helpful, peoples want to get higher-level medical services and hope the hospitals to optimize the working processes and speedup the exchange of medical treatment information. Since the existing systems are independent with each other and it is difficult to achieve the related information share, we should manage to connect the existing systems through some special means to make them communicate with each other smoothly and optimize the working processes. In addition, the connected system still can cope with the future potential variation with the help of its flexibilities.To obtain a good hospital information processing system, the theory of workflow is introduced as a new method to improve the hospital process management and efficiency. This thesis mainly studies how to combine workflow technology with those IT systems and analyzes the hospital working processes, part of which are modeled and then supply a simple process repository. A modeling tool JaWE and a workflow engine Shark are also introduced in this thesis. A multi-layer software architecture with five components is built to integrate other software systems which show their function and relationship in this thesis. Some technical problems are also discussed. In the end, this thesis expatiates upon the influence of the workflow technology to hospital work and its variation.In the hospital workflow information system, all of those processes are under the control of workflow engine. To separate the process logic from the application logic, the software system needs only to change a little to adapt to variation when process is modified, this can increase system flexibility and working life greatly. With the hospital workflow information system, people can focus on the optimization of processes in hospital. It also validates the possibility to integrate existing hospital information system by workflow technology and makes the preparation for future development.Nowadays, workflow technology is developing rapidly; people apply it in many different fields to resolve their problems. Undoubtedly, it will also exert a profound influence on the hospital informationization.
