The force and temperature through ceramic grinding induce the changing of surface mechanics performance, which can play an important role in the fatigue, fracture strength, surface hardness and wear resistance of the component, and it is one of the important reasons to bring microcracks and crack area. So, it has important significance to study the surface damage by the image technology.The achievement of this paper as follows:1,In this paper surface image of the ceramics after grinding had been studied systematically and with experiment method. The computer technology was been used to deal with the image of the ceramics surface in order to analyse the damnification, and also build up the detecting system and put forward the evaluation target of the damnification character parameter. The type of the surface damnification was detected available and described the surface damage effectively.2,This paper designed the experiment to get the surface numeric picture of the Si3N4,ZrO2 and Al2O3, which processed with different grinding parameter. Then use the method of the image enhancement and smooth, image segmentation, image edge detection and feature extraction, mathematical morphology etc, completely obtained the image information of the surface damage. Analysing the surface damage with the damage parameter set. Present a image processing method, which is suitable for the engineering ceramics surface damage.3,In addition, this study also aimed to analyze and deal with the image with the digital image technology, and the image was gotten from the ground surface of the ceramic. The damage could be classified and detected on the ceramics surface with the digital image technology and the crack damage could be reflected. The morphologic thinning algorithm was used to detect the profile and edge of the image, and we also could detect the particular of the crack damage, found method to classify the form of the crack damage, such as microcosmic crack damage and crash holes which was done by the grinding force. One physical quantity, of crack degree, was proposed for quantitatively estimating the grinding surface damage.
