As a tremendous breakthrough in wireless communication system, MIMO (Multiple-Input Multipleā€“Output) is a technique which can supply unbelievable high data rate, without losing spectrum bandwidth and power of transmission. Nowadays MIMO is concerned by the field of communication, being regarded as an important component in the fourth generation mobile communication technique.The channel capacity, diversity and combination, space-time codes and space-time codes in MIMO-OFDM system are researched in this thesis which also discusses theoretic models about these techniques in MIMO system. At last, based on theoretic models about these techniques in MIMO system with Monte Carlo methods, computer simulations are implemented using MATLAB and the results are analyzed in this thesis.The results in simulation illustrate that MIMO system has huge channel capacity and well performances compared with the system in one transmitting antenna and one receiving antenna. Space-time codes is one of essential techniques in MIMO system, various kinds of coding and decoding and characteristics of space-time block codes, space-time trellis codes and layered space-time coding are researched in this thesis. Analysis of the data in simulation of different situations can attain available results that can analyses the space-time codes'performance. Researching on the OFDM technique and putting space-time codes in MIMO-OFDM system, the results in simulation show the well performances by putting these two advanced techniques together. This new technique, which is so called MIMO-OFDM, must be applied widely in future mobile communication system.
