This dissertation makes a series of in-depth studies on facial expression deformation control technology of cartoon character, which is on the basis of interactive graphics deformation technique in CVIDraw. Put the deformation and restriction information into the traditionary cartoon character picture. So that the cartoon character can deformation flexibly by user's control, and user will get various facial expression of cartoon character efficiently. In this way, a more flexible produce mode of cartoon character animation is built up. The full text divide into 3 parts. The first part is get the movement regulation of facial feature point. The second part is create a deformable cartoon facial model which is include restriction information. The third part is present a mesh image distortion method of cartoon face which is without restriction information. These 3 parts complement each other, they constitute the facial expression deformation control technology of Cartoon Character together. The key work and point of this article is as follows:(1) Present a new technique for obtain distortion rule of cartoon face based on MPEG-4 and PCA. Generate new cartoon character facial expression by location data of facial feature point. Use the PCA (Principal Component Analysis) technique on location data of feature point. Then a linear relationship between quantitative emotion parameter and coefficient vector of principal component was constructed. New location data of facial feature point were generated by using linear interpolation and extrapolation method.(2)A deformable cartoon facial model based on CVIDraw was constructed, and it has been applied to create cartoon character. A new method that establish by key point matrix was presented. So that we can get the optimal control point of the deformable graphics automatically. Then combine it with the distortion rule of cartoon face. Embed the distortion rule into cartoon facial model, in that case, user can get various facial expression of cartoon character by drag the control point conveniently.(3)A mesh image distortion algorithm based on movement decomposition of feature point and scattered data interpolation was presented, to improve the performance of traditional 2-pass scan mesh distortion method, which has disadvantage on scan sequence and effect of distortion. Pixel was mapped from original image to target image, then use scattered data interpolation algorithm to the scattered point in order to resume the pixel information of target image. To improve the efficiency of grey mapping, we presented a triangle linear interpolation based on delaunay triangulation to deal with large-scale scattered data.Large numbers of produce instance and application in CVIDraw show that the facial expression deformation control technology of cartoon character which was presented in this article has a great technicality and practicability.
