Multi-Agent System (MAS), as a hotspot in Distributed Artificial Intelligence, is essential to Distributed Intelligent Information Processing. For MAS, Communication between Agents, which is important to the interaction and collaboration among Agents, has high value to research. As the further development of the Technology in Agent and Artificial Intelligence, the new trend is Agent intelligence, which refers to not only internal mechanism, but also external communication. Agent must have the ability in negotiation, conflict resolution, cooperation, and so on, which means that, the communication between Agents is not just a simple message exchanging, but must have some kind of coherent characteristics, as what it is in human communication. The utterances in a communication should have relevant syntax, semantics, and pragmatics. The integration of syntax, semantics and pragmatics is an important requirement as well as guidance for Intelligent Agent communication. Motivated to explore the mechanism for the integration of syntax, semantic and pragmatic in agent communication, "Comprehensive-Information-Based Formal Pragmatic Approach for Agent Communication" (CIFPA) developed a formal approach for agent interaction protocol specification, which improved the flexibility of agent interaction. The main work in this project includes:1. Based on CIFPA semantics, a flexible interaction specification approach was developed, which, taking Agents' reasoning ability into consideration, is able to deal with the exception and opportunity occurred during the interaction.2. The process of protocol specification was summarized and regularized, and the Negotiation Dialogue Game was specified as an example using CIFPA.3. An Agent implementation framework in FIPA Agent Development Platform, JADE, was completed. In the framework, Agent is able to continuously consult the knowledge base to act as per the CIFPA interaction specification. In summary, we realized the Agent interaction specification approach using comprehensive information in this dissertation. Under the guidance of comprehensive information theory, we developed a flexible approach for protocol specification, which based on the CIFPA semantics, taking Agents' reasoning ability into consideration, and combining agents' external communication intelligence and internal intelligence. In addition, we developed an Agent implementation framework on JADE, under which Agents can interact according to the CIFPA-specified interaction protocols.
