With the fast development of barcode identification technologies, the barcode identification systems based on laser technology are taken place by the barcode identification systems based on image technology step by step, especially for the high end application such as 2D barcode scanner. Currently, for the research and development of the barcode identify system based on image, the core is the mage optical design, including the image sensor circuitry, illumination and lens, as most of barcode software is outsourced and modularized. During the process of research, the engineers usually need to test and analyze such parameters of this part as DOF, illumination and SNR to verify the performance, to confirm if these results are satisfied with the requirements. Then the design is optimized, the performance is improved.This paper describes the way, the process and the results of the performance verification of barcode identifying image optical system. The contents include designing a USB2.0 high speed image capture system for the image optical system, using Matlab to analyze the captured image, getting the results. The paper will give a good instruction for the research of barcode identification systems.
