Interaction is one of the most features in virtual reality. Human-computer interaction technology has become a research hotspot in virtual reality. Data glove is generally used as a type of interaction device, and virtual hand technology based on data glove can provide a natural and efficient way of human-computer interaction.Firstly, this paper analyzes the research status and development orientation of data glove and gesture. In chapter II, based on the studying of modeling tools, a virtual scene is constructed. In chapter III, the theory of data glove is introduced and data access and calibration is discussed. Then the structure and motion features of human hand are studied, and the hand model coordinate system and kinematical equation is formulated. Based on those above, the virtual hand model is established. Finally, the technology of motion mapping is discussed from human hand to virtual hand.In this paper, a gesture interaction system based on data glove is designed under Windows system, using vc++6.0 and Vega as development tools and 5DT Data Glove 5 Ultra as input device, realizing all kinds of gesture control in roaming: basic linear motion,rotation,trace controlled,flying-through. The realization of the system can provide important technical route and realizing way for other virtual system such as virtual natural scenery system, virtual tourism system.
