With the sustained and stable development of the national economy and the continuous improvement of people's living standards, people's requirement becomes more and more pressing on the high-quality transportation services and their expectations have been getting higher and higher on the standards of service. The announcement on that internet-based geographic information and communication technologies are applied to the Travel Information Service is one of the important means to promote traffic information and will also greatly facilitate public travel.This thesis was relied on the project "Hubei public travel information service management system". On the basis of the function provided in the analysis of the Travel Information and the shortest path algorithm on the status quo at home and abroad as well as Geographic Information System(GIS), taking Java, ArcIMS (ESRI, the United States launched the network map server software) Oracle 10g database as the platform, the paper described how to introduce GIS to the public travel service management system, and achieve the GIS-related functions, so that the masses can be very convenient to enquire geographic information on the electronic map, , analyze the best path, and show the best routes to travel by determining the starting and terminal points.Because the system is very large, the paper used " the overall to local" study, analyzed the travel information needs of traffic managers and the masses, and proposed system design programmes; then introduced the characteristics of the WebGIS and its development methods and tools, focusing on the shortest path in GIS analysis of the key algorithms to improve the analysis and research, and realization of GIS module; finally briefly introduced the realization of the system and debug. Some practical work has been done as following:(1) Analysis of detailed needs on the public transport information service system, and the logical structure framework of the system design.(2) Based on the characteristics of the road network, the key technology of the shortest path analysis was researched in urban road network, especially focusing on the analyses of efficient implementation of the shortest path algorithm. The shortest path problem is the foundation of the allocation of resources, road design and optimization. In this thesis, starting with the topology of network structure, as well as rapid realization of search technology in Dijkstra algorithm, an improved shortest path of Dijkstra algorithm was proposed based on binary heap priority queues in order to adapt the actual network on the GIS.(3) Complete an efficient path analysis system that can fully meet the application needs by using the ArcIMS.(4) Design and realize the GIS module, and debug the system. After trial operation ,the realization of every module in the system proves the feasibility of the system design and implementation, which is a very good reference and guide for the development of related systems.
