With the development of Microelectronics and Computer technology, embedded system, being the center of interest in the rising research in recent years, has been becoming an important component in this field. The embedded computer system with high performance, and power-loss lowly, and low cost, which based on the Singlechip, ARM, DSP, has been adopted in several fields.This dissertation puts emphasis on researching and developing the low cost embedded computer system which is based on S3C2410X microprocessor and embedded Linux operating system, and proposes an optimizing solution after deeply studied the design method of software and hareware of the whole system. In the aspect of the designing the hardware platform for computer system, the design project of core board and motherboard been adopted firstly, the paper describes the structure and characteristics of the processor S3C2410X, and then detailedly discusses the chips selection of hardware modules and designation of interface circuit. For implementing software platform, for one thing, the dissertation introduces building software platform, and detailedly describes the porting method of the Bootloader program VTVI for S3C2410X platform after analyzes the VTVI in detail. For another, based on the porting of Linux operating system and the designation of the CRAMFS root file system. The whole test of the embedded system has been completed.The platform of hard-ware and soft-ware present in this dissertation can be used as secondary development platforms of embedded system, and could be extended functions easily. They provide excellent beginning for practice application, an has a bright future.
