The Research And Application Of Image Retrieval From Multimedia Database In Digital Campus

With the rapid development of multimedia information technology and Internet technology, various digital campus-based application systems have been maturating. The related application and the service are getting more and more. A large number of image information resources come forth in the Digital campus building. How to effectively retrieve these information resources and accurately improve the retrieval results. They have been faced in digital campus. Therefore, content-based image retrieval technology gradually becomes hot spots of research.In this thesis, first, introducing background and development situation of domestic and abroad on content-based image retrieval; second, analyzing the two core issues which is feature extraction technology and measurement technology on the image retrieval system. It is important for the thesis to discuss the two major issues. The thesis is summarized and concluded from both color and shape. In the based color image retrieval method, introducing several popular color models and the associated color feature extraction methods, and proposing the related improvement algorithm in the extraction aspect of color characteristic. In the based shape image retrieval method, introducing the outline of objects from images in the popular edge detection method and the description of the shape, and described by Fourier shape feature extraction, retrieving the results by similarity measuring technique.On this basis, in view of digital campus environment, the content-based image retrieval system has been designed and finished. The system, according to analyzing, was divided into three functional modules, including image feature extraction, the retrieval result browsing and database management. And then, describing them in detail.Finally, the thesis summed up the research work, and the further research work was discussed.
