In the Laser Inertial Confinement Fusion (ICF) experiments, fusion interaction is realized by bombarding deuterium and tritium targets with multi-path lasers, and target monitoring system is a key part of the experiment. In this thesis, the location and recognition of targets is our main work.Computer vision regards image processing technology as the core, it makes the machine has ability of environment understanding. Vision measurement and location is applied widely because it has the characteristics of untouchable, fastness and high precision. In chapter two, an overview of the image edge detection method is given and some classic detection algorithms are introduced. Then an improvement on Sobel operator is used to advance its efficiency.Hough transform is used widely in line/circle detection. Its result is precise and it is very robust. In this paper, the technology of automatic characters recognition and Hough transform are researched and explored. A method of weight cumulating is proposed to improve the detection speed and a circles detection method to recognize all the targets in an image. To improve location precision, a sub-pixel location method is used to find the sub-pixel position of the edge points, and the least squares analysis to fit the function of edge. Experiments indicate that the error is less than 1/4 pixel. The moment technique is widely used due to its appealing mathematical simplicity and versatility, such as image processing, computer vision and pattern recognition. According to the basic principle of image segmentation, a pre-processing algorithm is showed, which is fit for this thesis. Aim at the target, a recognition method based on improved order-normalized moment invariants is improved.
