Application Of The IPP G729 Algorithm In The Conference Call Server

The G729 algorithm, which is a high quality speech codec compression standard established by International Telecommunications Union(ITU), adopts the Conjugate Structure Algebraic Code Excited Linear Prediction(CS-ACELP) algorithm, and is mainly used in the scopes of IP telephony,mobile communication, multimedia network communication and digital satellite communication etc.Intel Integrated Performance Primitives (IPP) is a suite of library functions including multimedia codec, speech codec and video codec etc. IPP G729 speech codec is the algorithm optimized by Intel taking advantage of its processor architecture and technology. It complies fully with the ITU-T standard, and has passed the standard vector test of ITU-T G729. Its functionalities is same as ITU-T G729 but the performance is obviously improved by calling the IPP functions.This paper discusses the detailed processing flow of ITU G729 speech codec compression algorithm, the principles of the IPP optimization and the usage of the test tool Intel VTune. On this theoretic basis, a server that can server for conference call is developed on the basis of the XE2000 which is the product of the H3C Company. The server realizes the basic conference functionality by mixing the speeches of the attendants. It supports many speech codec like G711, G729 etc and provides four meeting modes.The server supports configurations in the form of embedded equipment(XE2000 + DSP) and professional server(Linux server + IPP), the latter adopts the speech coding scheme optimized by Intel IPP because its efficiency is higher through comparing the ITU-T G729 with the IPP G729 algorithm using the VTune tool provided by Intel. Now, the conference call server is successfully being used by the Post Office system of Shandong Province.
