Wavelet packet division multiplexing is a technique combing wavelet and wavelet packet theory of mathematics with multi-carrier modulation technique of communication. With the advantage of the orthogonal feature both in Time and Frequency filed of wavelet function and the inner ability of reducing multi-path fading of Multi-carrier Modulation, WPDM can provide higher frequency efficiency, better performance resisting fading and interference and more flexibility to implement multi-rate transmission.The purpose of this paper is to discuss the channel estimation techniques for WPDM system, analyze whether two estimation methods—MMSE and ZF—is available in our system, simulate system performance under Rayleigh Channel. According to the performance and the complexity of algorithm, give a suitable solution can be used in WPDM system. First, the theory of wavelet and wavelet packet is introduced simply, then the principle and feature of multi-carrier modulation technique, and compare OFDM and WPDM. Finally, based on the radio channel model, give a channel estimation solution can be available in the WPDM system. And use the Matlab tool, simulate the algorithm performance and even under different velocity.The result of analysis and simulation indicates that the method given in this paper could reduce interruption evidently, improve the system receive performance under Rayleigh channel. Also, the operation quantity is small.
